An extreme sport, the international-level Himalayan White Water Challenge-2019 is to take place in Sindhupalchowk starting on November 26

Initially started as a celebration to end the boating season on Himalayan rivers, this has evolved to become a yearly event participated by many racers of all nationalities. Officially indorsed and run by Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), this event is celebrated over the course of 3 days. Competitors representing different countries are participating in the event which has been annually taking place in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board since 2002. In view of Nepal Tourism Year-2020, NARA has laid emphasis on wider publicity and promotion of Nepal's outdoor adventures to bring many tourists from across the globe.

Each year, this event is held in different places to showcase Nepal’s diversity and to promote economic opportunities in rural areas. Narayan Shrestha, Associate Treasurer of NARA informed that this year's Himalayan White Water Challenge programme is to take place in the Bhotekoshi River. This gives plenty of opportunities to Sindhupalchowk district as lots of domestic and international competitors around the world flock towards this event.

The competition features four exciting races, namely Kayak Extreme Slalom, Downriver Race, Corporate Rafting Race and Water Cross. More than 400 rafters, guides and adventure lovers of as many as 30 countries are participating in the programme. The most outstanding performer will receive an award of USD 1,000.
