The construction and management of grasslands for wild animals are going on rapidly within the Chitwan National Park. In the current fiscal year 2079-80, new grasslands have been constructed in an area of 50 hectares, while management work has been completed in an area of 125 hectares.
The grassland management work is still going on in an area of 100 hectares. Rs. 2.5 million was spent on the new construction. Work is being done on a budget of Rs 33 lakh 75 thousand for grassland management. Five ponds have been repaired by the park this year at a cost of five lakh rupees. Grassland management has been done for wildlife habitat management.
The conflict between humans and wild animals will be reduced as the establishment of grasslands within the park will prevent wild animals from entering the settlements in search of food. If the grasslands are not managed, the food of wild animals is reduced due to weeds and bones of Michaha species.
"We have been working on grassland and wetland management every year as grassland management facilitates the habitat management of wild animals," said Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, Information Officer of the park._Rss
