A man who died a week ago has been confirmed positive to coronavirus, taking the death toll from the infection in Nepal to four.
The 70-year-old man from Kalaiya municipality-7 in Bara district died from the virus at National Medical College, Birgunj on May 17. Dr Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed the death of the man from coronavirus.
He was admitted to the hospital on May 15 for tuberculosis and respiration problems. His swabs were tested at Narayani hospital and had to be re-tested at the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu for verification. Meanwhile, swabs of those who had come in contact with the deceased have been sent for testing on May 18.
Earlier, three persons who died from COVID-19 included one each from Sindhupalchok, Banke and Gulmi district.
