At the mythological place of Pachhai, the construction of Rawan Park has begun. The efforts have been done in collaboration between Beni Municipality and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. After the decade-long hiatus of being at the planning stage since 2010, the construction finally has begun.
The place has historical and religious significance as Rawan was born in Pachhai written in Ramayana. In addition, prominent sages like Pulaha, Pulatsya and Bharat practised their penance in Pachhai.
They had raised bidding of Rs 32.5 million, with 21.2 million coming from the Tourism Ministry and the rest being appropriated by the budget of the municipality. The construction company, Dharma & Kasyap JV, was awarded the contract of Rs 17.67 million to build this park based on competitive price bidding.
The park will encompass 4 ropanis of the area in Pulaha Pulatsya area with structures like the statue, garden and recreation sites being the first to be constructed with the Rawan statue being built in Kathmandu. There have been plans of making a religious corridor in the area covering Galeswor-based Muktinath Entrance Gate, Pulachaur-based Pachhai, Jagannath and Todke area.
