Nepal’s leading wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa has passed away at the age of 64. Sherpa, a resident of Lukla in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1, Solukhumbu district, died at 12:15 am today while receiving treatment at Grande Hospital.
Known for his talent in capturing Nepal’s rich biodiversity, Sherpa’s work played a vital role in promoting wildlife conservation and eco-tourism in the country. His passion for wildlife photography earned him affiliations with numerous national and international organizations, cementing his reputation as a pioneer in the field.
Sherpa’s contributions to conservation efforts and tourism promotion were widely recognized as exemplary. His lens brought the beauty of Nepal’s natural heritage to the global stage, raising awareness about the importance of preserving the country’s unique ecosystems.Through his work, including his invaluable contributions to Parikrama’s ‘Wild and Wonderful’ section, he inspired us to appreciate the beauty of nature and reminded us of our responsibility to protect it.
