96 Nepalis quarantined at Kharipati

Twenty-three more Nepali returnees have been taken to the quarantine facility set up at Kharipati in Bhaktapur district. With this, the total number of people quarantined in the Kharipati facility has reached 96, including 77 male and 19 female Nepalis, Nepal Army, Birdal Battalion Commander Colonel, Shiva Prasad Poudel informed.

A team of security personnel took the returnees from different places of India to the quarantine facility on Wednesday night. The government had sent 49 Nepalis returnees from different countries including Dubai and Qatar via Thai Airways and 13 returnees via Air India to quarantine on March 21.

A five-member team of health workers comprising two doctors has been assigned to carry out their health examinations. All of them will be quarantined for at least 14 days. They will be taken to Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku, if they test positive for coronavirus during their quarantine stay.

All arrangements have been made at the Kharipati-based quarantine in line with WHO standards. Similarly, the government is making preparation to develop Nagarkot-based hotels as quarantine centres to accommodate up to 500 people.
