A 36-bed quarantine facility has been set up at Diktel Bazar, the main business hub of Khotang District. The facility is built with cooperation from the Nepal Army's Gorakhnath Battalion at Mude.
The quarantine ward is set up at the Khotang Multipurpose Covered Hall at Matikore in Diktel. It was constructed on Tuesday in view of the possible risk of the coronavirus pandemic.
"Before this, the quarantine facility was said to be constructed at Mount Everest Boarding School. But the idea was dropped after the school management committee opposed it. So, we built it at the covered hall," said Deep Narayan Rijal, Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality Mayor.
The facility is set up at the initiation of the District Coordination Committee Khotang and collaboration of the municipality, Nepali Army and Nepal Red Cross Society. It is said the quarantine facility was readied in two hours. "The District Administration Office has urged all ambulance services in the district to keep ambulances at the stand-by position," Chief District Officer Shaligram Sharma Poudel said.
The District Hospital Khotang has already set up an isolation ward with three beds before this.
