352 Indian nationals held for defying lockdown in Birgunj

The Parsa Police today detained 352 Indian nationals for defying lockdown enforced nationwide against the spread of COVID-19. The Police stopped them from going to India via Birgunj border.

Among them are five women, 11 children and 336 men. They are labours working in different parts of Nepal who were trying to go home, said Superintendent of Police, Gautam Thapa, from District Police Office.

He added that the Indian citizens have been kept at Thakurram Multiple Campus of Adarshangar, Birgung. They had arrived in Birgunj from different cities such as Kathmandu, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Pokhara. The meeting of the district security coordination committee which is to be held shortly would decide what to do with them.
