Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is gradually expanding its destinations to China, Japan and Saudi Arabia. It has called for a tender for appointing the general sales agent for Saudi Arabia and has made a global call for tender for passengers and cargo as well. According to NAC assistant spokesman Nawaraj Koirala, preparations have been made to start flights to Riyadh of Saudi Arabia before Dashain festival by completing the GSA process by September. NAC has planned to operate flights to Riyadh three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Meanwhile, NAC has made preparations to operate Kathmandu-Osaka direct flights from August 29, 2019, as scheduled. Citing only a few ticket bookings and unfavourable tourist visiting season, NAC had to change its plan of operating flights on this route. Koirala stated that after the bilateral meeting including Madan Kharel, Chairman of NAC with the officials of the Japan Civil Aviation Authority, a climate conducive for operating flights to Narita International Airport has been created. It is declared that all the paperwork has been completed for operating flights to Guangzhou of China. Koirala said they hoped to get the go-ahead from the Civil Aviation of China for the operation of flight on this route within 20 days. It is also declared that initiatives are being taken to operate flights also to South Korea in this connection.
