On Saturday June 1, 9:00 am onwards, Hotel Annapurna organised its annual Art Competition on the occasion of World Environment Day 2019. This competition has been organised on a yearly basis since 2000. The event provides a platform where the hotel employees' children can gather and demonstrate their understanding of the environment through illustrations. Besides being a fun event for both the staff and their children, Hotel Annapurna, through its initiative also hopes to help create awareness in society about the importance of protecting the environment. The event was graced by the 2019 Miss Nepal team and judged by two artists from Sirjana College of Fine Arts.
The participants were placed in different groups according to their age: Group A: 5-8 years, Group B: 9-12 years and Group C: 13-15 years. And, a total of nine prizes were awarded for the winners from each of the three groups respectively. The first prize winners were: Group A - Aarav Bhandari, Group B - Samikchhya Raut and Group C - Anisha Thapa. Being a part of this friendly competition has enabled the participants to express themselves through art and share their experiences and ideas in helping to make the world clean, green and bright.
Over the years, the Hotel has carried out numerous eco-friendly schemes under the slogan, “Be Green! Go Green! Do Green!”. An example of one such scheme is the deterrence to use plastic bags. Likewise, besides the Art Competition, the Hotel will also be organising a cleaning programme on June 5, World Environment Day, when the hotel employees will gather to clean the areas from Kantipath to Bhrikuti Mandap. The two other hotels under the brand by Annapurna - Fish Tail Lodge in Pokhara and Jagatpur Lodge in Chitwan - will also be implementing programmes of their own to mark the occasion.
