Celebrating Buddha Jayanti tomorrow (May 18), a series of events have been planned out for the grand kick-off of Visit Lumbini Year 2076. Early morning religious offerings will be made on the 2563rd Buddha Jayanti Celebration, followed by tree plantations by Hon'ble Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli.
A peace procession will be carried out from Mayadevi Temple to the programme venue where the formalities will begin. Special guest, Hon'ble Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli; Hon'ble Umakanta Jha, Chief of Province-5; Hon'ble Shanker Pokhrel, Chief Minister of Province-5, Hon'ble Dhan Bahadur Budha, State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; HE Ramdas Athawale, State Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India; Ven. Metteyya, Vice Chairman of Lumbini Development Trust; Secretaries of the Government of Nepal; Dr Thant Myint-U, Founder and Chairman of Yangon Heritage Trust (Grandson of U-Thant); Most Venerable Thervada, Mahayana, Bajrayana along with Chief Guest Rt. Hon'ble President Bidya Devi Bhandari will be present for the programme.
As the official inauguration of the programme begins, there will be chanting by Sanghas, lighting of lamps and musical performaces. After greetings are exchanged between representatives, delegates; the official launching of the Visit Lumbini Year 2076 will be done. Followed by a gala lunch, there will be a light offering at the Sacred Garden.
