Kathmandu, June 2026: Aloft Kathmandu Thamel is set to bring the rich and diverse flavours of western India to Nepal's capital with an exclusive Maharashtrian Food Festival, taking place from June 12 to 14, 2026.

The three-day culinary event promises an immersive journey through Maharashtra's vibrant food culture, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience authentic regional dishes crafted using traditional techniques and ingredients sourced directly from the Indian state.

Known for its bold spices, coastal influences, rustic home-style cooking, and centuries-old culinary traditions, Maharashtrian cuisine reflects the diversity of the region's geography and culture. The festival menu will showcase an extensive selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies, representing culinary traditions from across Maharashtra, including the fiery flavours of Vidarbha, the robust dishes of Kolhapur, and the subtle coastal influences of the Konkan region.

Guests can indulge in a variety of signature dishes ranging from traditional curries and gravies to popular street-style favourites and seafood specialties. To ensure authenticity, key spices and ingredients have been specially sourced from Maharashtra.

Adding to the experience, the festival will feature a live cooking station where diners can witness the preparation of iconic Maharashtrian dishes firsthand and interact with the chefs behind the culinary creations. Mango enthusiasts can also look forward to a selection of specially curated mango-themed desserts, celebrating one of the season's most beloved fruits.

Leading the festival is Chef Vikram, a native Maharashtrian chef with more than 28 years of experience across renowned hospitality brands including ITC Hotels, Leela Palace, Hyatt Regency, and Andaz. Deeply connected to the culinary heritage of his home state, Chef Vikram brings authentic recipes and traditional flavours to the festival.

Joining him is Rajeev Shrestha, Executive Chef of Aloft Kathmandu Thamel and one of Nepal's most recognised culinary professionals. Chef Shrestha has represented Nepal on international platforms, including the prestigious Toques en Chablais International Gastronomy Festival in France and the US–Nepal Gastronomy Exchange in Washington, D.C.

Together, the two chefs aim to deliver a memorable gastronomic experience that celebrates the authenticity, diversity, and richness of Maharashtrian cuisine.

The Maharashtrian Food Festival will be held at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel from June 12–14, inviting food enthusiasts, travellers, and culinary explorers to discover one of India's most celebrated regional cuisines in the heart of Kathmandu.
