At a programme on Monday, Minister Yadav said that Nepal was at high risk of climate change consequences, and thus the declaration would be made after extensive consultation with experts and stakeholders to hog the world's attention towards Nepal. Yadav asserted, "The impacts of climate change are taking place everywhere visually. Climate change is affecting Nepal's mountains, agriculture and water resources. It's high time we declare climate crisis in Nepal and draw the world's attention to it."
The Ministry was at work to find out an apt 'modality' to declare the climate crisis, for which it required fact-based evidence, he said, adding that to this effect, they were researching ways and means. Climate change was evident and everyone had taken cognizance of its impacts, he stated.
