On the occasion of Chaite Dashain, a large fair is held at the famous Kalika temple complex of Baglung since traditional times. One of the most important fairs in Nepal, the Chaitra Ashtami fair is starting from Chaitra 13th this year.
According to the Baglung Kalika Bhagwati Guthi Management Committee, every year on the occasion of Chaite Dashain, the fair, which is held in the premises of Baglung Kalika Bhagwati Temple, a famous religious tourist destination, will be held from 13th to 17th of Chaitra.
The aim of the fair is to promote art and culture while maintaining tradition. The Guthi Management Committee has been organizing and conducting the fair lately. The fair is being organized to promote tourism, preserve culture, promote local products, and continue the tradition.
This fair has its own importance and history. It is mentioned in the records of the temple that when Pratapinarayan Malla, the king of the mountains, married the princess of Palpa, he placed the dowry statue of Kalika in the middle of the dense forest, but when he tried to raise it, it was established in the same place and worshiped.
In the Chaite Dashain Mela, items such as dala, nangla, theki etc. are bought for household sponsorship. Devotees from all over the country and even from India come to Baglung Kalika temple on Chaite Dashain.
“Sports and cultural programs will be organized at the fair. This year also volleyball, national folk repetition, folk bhajan competition and Chelo throwing competition have been organized in the fair,” said Chairman of the committee, Kumar Khadka._Rss
