Three Indian nationals residing in Birgunj, Nepal have tested positive for COVID-19.
Nasal and throat swabs from the three individuals had initially tested positive on Friday, after which the samples had been dispatched to the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu for confirmation, shared Health Ministry.
The Chief Specialist at the Health Ministry Dr Roshan Pokhrel shared, "The laboratory has confirmed COVID-19 in all samples Saturday evening. After the confirmation, all three have been sent to the isolation facility set up at Narayani Provincial Hospital in Birgunj. Furthermore, contact tracing of people who had come in close contact with them has also been forwarded."
Sample tests of 33 people were conducted on Thursday after a few presented symptoms. Besides the three identified in Birgunj, all other patients are Nepali citizens. With the three new cases, the total number of COVID-19 infected people in Nepal has reached 12.
