Skål International Nepal commemorated its 25th Annual General Meeting and installed its new executive board in a vibrant celebration of leadership, legacy, and future vision at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel.

Kathmandu, Nepal – Skål International Nepal proudly marked its 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and New Board Installation Ceremony 2025 with an evening of reflection, recognition, and renewal on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, at the stylish Aloft Kathmandu Thamel. The landmark event gathered tourism leaders, Skål members, dignitaries, and distinguished guests in a spirited celebration of unity and vision.

The evening was eloquently hosted by SK Upaul Majumdar and SK Pankaj Pradhanang, who set the tone for a programme that seamlessly blended tradition with foresight. Attendees gathered in the Tactic Meeting Hall for a warm Hi Tea and 'Guff Gaff' session, encouraging informal networking and camaraderie among members.


Session I: Honouring Legacy and Inspiring Vision


The formal proceedings commenced with the National Anthem and the ceremonial lighting of the Panas (traditional lamp) by the current and former Presidents, alongside the General Manager of Aloft. This symbolic gesture celebrated the enduring values of Skål.

Key highlights of the session included:

The session featured the introduction of new members into the Skål fraternity, followed by heartfelt tributes to late Skålleagues—Late Ambica Shrestha was posthumously awarded the prestigious Membre D’Honneur title, while Late Basant Mishra was recognised for his pioneering contributions to wildlife tourism. In addition, Senior SK Navraj Ghimire was honoured for his unwavering enthusiasm and commitment to environmental conservation, and Ms Kalpana Shrestha, Office Manager of the Skål Secretariat, was appreciated for her long-standing and dedicated service to Skål Nepal.

A Vision for Wildlife Tourism in Chitwan

President Mr Mahendra Raj Paudel shared insightful reflections on the future of sustainable tourism, followed by a 10-minute wildlife conservation video. Emphasising the importance of Chitwan’s unique ecosystem, he remarked, “As Chitwan is largely dependent on wildlife, we must develop more activities to enhance and promote tourism in the region.”

SK Vikram Singh, General Manager of Aloft Kathmandu, also addressed the gathering, expressing his continued support for Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sector.

The session continued with a deliberation on the Terms of Reference (TOR) and operational strategies, as proposed by the Executive Committee, aimed at enhancing the organisation’s efficiency and impact. 

This was followed by the Treasurer’s Report, which provided a comprehensive overview of events and financial details covering the period from 17th July 2023 to 15th July 2024. The General Secretary’s Report outlined key areas for improvement and proposed future initiatives to further strengthen Skål’s activities.

President Mr Mahendra Raj Paudel then presented the Annual Report, accompanied by a brief promotional video highlighting Skål’s recent initiatives and achievements. An open-floor session titled ‘Skål 0 Hours’ Discussion invited members to share constructive ideas and suggestions to support the continued growth and values of the organisation. The session concluded with a heartfelt Skål Toast from the President and a warm Vote of Thanks delivered by President-Elect Mr Ramesh Luintel.

A proud moment for the organisation was also shared with the announcement that Skål Nepal has been awarded the title of 'Skål Club of the Year in Asia', a testament to its outstanding contributions and leadership in the region.


Session II: Election and New Board Installation


Following a brief intermission, the hall was transformed into a more intimate setting, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere, with refreshments and cocktails served throughout. The election proceedings were conducted under the careful supervision of Election Commissioner SK Rabendra Raj Pandey, who began with an overview of the election process. 

This was followed by the formal announcement of official candidates and the supervision of the voting procedure, ensuring transparency and order. The highlight of the session was the declaration of the New Executive Committee 2025, culminating in the ceremonial ‘Change of Guard’ rituals, symbolising a smooth and respectful transition of leadership within Skål International Nepal.

The newly elected committee comprises Mr Ramesh Luintel as President, Mr Bijay Amatya as First Vice President, Mr Yogendra Thapa as Second Vice President, Mr Rupesh Joshi as Treasurer, and Mr Sanjib Pathak as General Secretary. Supporting them as Executive Members are Mr Sarbottam Lal Shrestha, Mr Janapal Thapa, Mr Pankaj Pradhananga, Mr Youb Raj Shrestha, and Mrs Sharmila K.V. Kafle.

The session featured congratulatory toasts and encouraging remarks from Immediate Past President Mr Prabin Pandey, and Past Presidents Mr Bhola Thapa and Mr R.R. Pandey, acknowledging the continuity of leadership and commitment to Skål’s mission.

The newly elected President Mr. Ramesh Luintel delivered a stirring inaugural address, outlining a forward-thinking vision for the organisation’s growth and role in Nepal’s tourism sector.

The evening concluded on a celebratory note with a lively cocktail reception, where members joined in the traditional Skål Toast:

“To Fellow Skålleagues Everywhere! Happiness! Good Health! Friendship! Long Life! Skål!”
