The Madhyapur Thimi Municipality has made preparations for the treatment of COVID-19 infected patients. The municipality has developed the Nepal-Korea Friendship Hospital as a dedicated hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 positive cases.
Organising a press meet here today, Mayor Madan Sundar Shrestha shared that the municipality has completed the tracing of all the people who recently came from abroad in every ward of the municipality. It collected the swab of 53 people in the municipality and the lab reports of all of them were found negative. He added that of the 65 who returned recently, 53 underwent a test for COVID-19 while 12 left for their villages. He added that the lab equipment, isolation wards, ambulances and human resources were ready in the hospital.
The hospital has a 10-bed sophisticated isolation ward, quarantine with the capacity of keeping 20 persons, one dedicated ambulance, x-ray machines, two ventilators, 100-sets of PPE among other required medical stuff for the treatment of Coronavirus infected people. Mayor Shrestha added that the municipality has established a 50 million rupees emergency fund to combat COVID-19.
