With the EU, UNWTO, WHO and other international organizations saying that travel closures and border closings have not been effective in curbing the COVID-19 especially the Omicron variant, Lithuania has opened its doors to travellers visiting the country if they meet the travel requirements.
Now, any travellers visiting the country must show that they are vaccinated against the COVID-19. Paperwork that can prove that a visitor has recovered from COVID-19 or has tested negative from COVID-19 will also be accepted. In addition, visitors do not need to present a National Certificate or other COVID document to access public spaces including tourist accommodations, restaurants, museums or cultural event venues.
The only restriction is that in these public spaces, wearing masks or respirators indoors and distance-keeping are required. With tourism making a significant part of the economy, with almost 2 million visitors visiting the Baltic country with 1.1 billion dollars in income, many tourism and travel industries are happy to see this development.
