The Jitgadhi festival is currently being celebrated in Butwal, Rupandehi district, to commemorate the victory of the Nepal Army over the British government in 1872 BS. The festival is held every year to mark the day when Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa led the Nepal Army to conquer the Jitgadhi fort, taking down the British Army.
All preparations for the festival have been completed, according to the sub-metropolis chief administrative officer, Tekraj Panthi. As part of the celebration, an Army team on a walking tour from Gorkha will be welcomed by the main celebration committee at 10 a.m. The team will then conclude their tour, and the main celebration program will take place at the fort at 12:30 p.m., said sub-metropolis mayor Khelraj Pandey._Rss
