The Chinese President Xi Jinping declared the 24th Olympic Winter Games open on the evening of February 4. Shortly after the Olympic cauldron was lit at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games after 10:00 pm local time. The opening ceremony started with much fanfare,16 million viewers across muliple platforms on the day, a new record-low for the event since NBCUniversal began broadcasting the Olympics in 1988. The programme was divided into 15 segments, including the parade of athletes and the lighting of the Olympic flame. As the ceremony started, the lights dimmed and a 24-second countdown followed. The Olympic Games Beijing 2022 is scheduled to conclude on February 20.
