The residents of Hong Kong have been mass panic buying grocery products and any essential supplies after the government announced under these measures only vaccinated people will be allowed to enter supermarkets and shopping malls

Still, after the Hong Kong government was adamant about following the 'zero-COVID' policy pioneered by China and having mandatory quarantine for all travellers and mass testing, the government has recorded a continued rise of cases with yesterday seeing 1,514 cases in the country. 

In response to his rise, Hong Kong has further escalated its pandemic protection measures and requirements. From this week, in-person gatherings which were already limited will be no more than two households. The local authorities have imposed lockdowns on any communities that are observing a rise in the number of cases and has banned public dining after 6 p. m.

The Chinese government has warned the local authorities that adopting a 'living with the virus will overwhelm the medical systems available in the country. This is despite the fact that Hong Kong has fully vaccinated about 73% of its population excluding children.
