Byas Municipality in Tanahun District is expediting the efforts to set up fruit and vegetable collection centres with the aim to facilitate farmers in the sale of their products and help make them self-reliant. Out of 14 wards, such centres are being established in 11 wards in the municipality, the officials said.
Municipality’s Mayor Baikuntha Neupane said that each ward is given Rs 300,000 in cash for the establishment of fruits and vegetables collection centre. According to Mayor Neupane, the municipality was initiating such a move to make folks self-reliant in fruits and vegetables as the prospects of growth in tourism and industry sectors seem unlikely.
However, chairman of ward no. 7, Tulasiram Sapkota, said that construction of the collection centre is affected due to the lockdown order.
