Joint Ambulance Drivers Association Nepal has demanded that authorities provide facilities to ambulance drivers at par with frontline health workers.
Saying ambulance drivers are at the highest risk of coronavirus, the association demanded that authorities arrange health insurance and other services and facilities at par with health workers as well as promptly ensure their coronavirus tests.
Issuing a press release, Association Central Chairperson Nabaraj Lamichhane and General Secretary Mukti Kafle drew the attention of the concerned to provide all medical supplies required for ambulance drivers as they are facing high risks of coronavirus being compelled to provide service wearing a simple face mask.
The press release also drew attention to increasing social misbehavior with ambulance drivers. The press release also demanded not to forcefully use ambulances as vehicles to carry people arriving from abroad. The Association also warned that they could not continue their jobs if their demands were not addressed. There are altogether 4,500 ambulances in the country.
