Tourists are increasing on the Annapurna trail

The cyclical Annapurna trail, which has been affected by corona and cold for a long time, has been attracting tourists for a few days.

Tourists come to the Annapurna trail to see the Himalayas, mountain views and customs of Manang people, natural beauty and pass through Thumra from Manang and go to Pokhara. At this time, the fields and grasslands of Manang are green and the sight of flowers and lice in bloom attracts tourists. 

Tourists especially visit Thorong Pass, Larke Pass and Kala Pass, while some tourists go to see Tilicho Lake, which is the highest place in the world.The entrance of Annapurna trail is in Lamjung Besisahar Municipality. Five districts are connected to the Annapurna trail namely Lamjung, Manang, Kaski, Mustang and Myagdi. There is an increase in domestic tourists along with foreign tourists. Domestic tourists especially come back after reaching different places in Manang. Most of the domestic tourists who go there are young people. 

According to Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Tourist Check Centre Dharapani Tourist Assistant Kshetra Bahadur Gurung, around 80-90 tourists are arriving daily and most of them from Israel.7, 213 foreign tourists have arrived on this trail so far in 2022. Among them, women are 4,834 and men are 2,379. The highest number of tourists in 2022 are 117 Israeli tourists, 771 from France, 766 from Germany, and 578 from Britain. So far, citizens of 96 countries have come here this year.

Similarly, in 2021, only 2,373 foreign tourists came to this trail. In 2020, 1,976 tourists came. Similarly, according to the centre, 36,647 tourists came in 2019, 29,484 tourists in 2018, and 21,688 tourists in 2017.

"Until some time ago, I waited until the tourists did not come, but now as tourists have started arriving, I have become busy. On one side there is the excitement of Dashain and on the other hand, the arrival of tourists has a different atmosphere.” Said Panch Bahadur Gurung, a tourism business man of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4

“After a long time, the tourist activity has increased the income. I am making a living for my family through the tourism business and not only them but hundreds of hotel businesses around this footpath such as Khusiram Gurung, Jeet Bahadur Gurung, Devijung Gurung, Purna Bahadur Gurung etc. are flourishing.” He added._Rss
