Sri Lanka has been severely hit by the COVID-19 and many travel restrictions and reopening and closings that Sri Lanka has gone through. Now with the Visit Sri Lanka 2022 campaign being put, the government has put a plan to promote this South Asian island nation as a safe wedding destination to promote and revive tourism.
This shift in tourism strategy has been done by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) with plans of utilizing the event management companies, wedding planners, photographers, fashion designers and other people under one platform so that the experience of planning a wedding in Sri Lanka becomes convenient for foreign visitors.
With market analysis showing that the destination market wedding will generate revenue of $290 billion by 2031, Sri Lanka is positioning itself as a 'wedding destination' for surrounding countries in the region such as India, Maldives, Pakistan and many more in the region.
