The number of pilgrims traveling to Mansarovar Kailash in Tibet through the Rasuwagadhi border point has increased compared to last year. From May 14 to September 10, a total of 7,523 pilgrims visited the religious site in China's Tibet. Murari Niraula, Chief of the Rasuwagadhi Immigration Office in Timure, noted that 60% of the pilgrims were Nepali, while 40% were non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) from countries like Australia, the USA, the UK, and Canada. Additionally, around 200 tourists from other nations joined the Nepali pilgrims on the Kailash Yatra, according to the Immigration Office.
Chinese regulations require pilgrims to travel to Mansarovar in groups, with visas obtained through travel agencies. Given the site's high altitude of 5,700 meters, the 10-day trek includes scheduled stops at various locations to help visitors acclimatize. The influx of pilgrims has also boosted the hotel business in areas like Timure and Ghatte Khola, where travelers typically spend a night, according to local hoteliers.
