The 23rd Pingyao International Photography Festival commenced on Tuesday in the historic city of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site celebrated for its meticulously preserved ancient architecture in Shanxi Province, northern China.
Under the theme "New Light, New Orientation," this six-day festival has garnered significant attention, featuring a remarkable collection of 13,961 photographic works contributed by over 2,000 photographers hailing from 28 different countries.
The festival has been thoughtfully structured into five major sections, encompassing a total of 16 diverse units. Notably, this year's edition boasts the participation of more than 120 educational institutions, including 12 international representatives, marking a record high for the festival's history.
Embracing values of diversity, international collaboration, and a commitment to professionalism, this annual event, inaugurated in 2001, has become a focal point for the global photography community.
