A successful expedition to Mount Everest was completed by a team of 10, including five members of the Nepali Army, who climbed the peak under the Clean Mountain Campaign in 2023. This campaign, initiated by the Nepali Army, aims to collect waste from four peaks, including Everest and Lhotse. The team leader, Lieutenant Kishore Adhikari, along with Captain Bishnubal Rai, Captain Dipendra Singh Khatri, Lance Corporal Kishore Jabegu, and Corporal Shankar Kunwar, successfully reached the peak's summit at 10:05 am on the expedition day.
Five Sherpas also reached the top with the team. The Clean Mountain Campaign began on March 28, with Army Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma presenting the 'Flag of Ceremony' to the team at the NA headquarters in Kathmandu. The campaign's objective is to collect about 35,000 kilos of solid waste from four peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Baruntse, and Annapurna. The NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information reported that so far, the team has collected 32,311 kilos of waste. The campaign is scheduled to conclude on June 5, World Environment Day.
