The beautiful scenery seen from Mustang, a Himalayan district, draws both domestic and international visitors. Mustang’s unique geography has become an invaluable source of income for its residents.

Mustang, known as the 'district of the Himalayas', is also considered to be of special importance because of the remains of the ancient civilization as it has to cross the Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains. Recently, Mustang is becoming a major destination for domestic tourists as well. Most tourists come here from SAARC and third countries. Lately, domestic tourists have been crowding Mustang.

The sights of the headquarters, Jomsom, Kagbeni, Muktinath, Lomanthang, etc. also attract many people. The significant presence of tourists has benefited the local economy. Mustang has become famous not only for Nepal but for the whole world. Foreign tourists especially prefer to cycle between mountains.
After leaving the Pokhara-Baglung highway at Maldhunga, you reach Jomsom via Beni, Tatopani, and Rupse. While climbing and descending the mountains of Kaligand, you can easily forget the beautiful nature of the green hills and the waterfalls flowing over them.

The headquarters of Mustang is Jomsom. It has Manang in the east, Dolpa in the west, Myagdi in the south, and Tibet in the north. As it is located in the north of the Annapurna snow range, there is very little water here. The Kaligandaki River flows through the middle of it. Most of the settlements are located on the banks of this river.

Every Baisakh and Shrawan, there is also a blood-eating festival of Chawri Alo in the district. Residents of nearby districts gather here. Mustang headquarters Jomsom is reached in a 20-minute flight from Pokhara. From there, you can reach Muktinath in about an hour by means of transport. If you want to go to Muktinath by bus from Pokhara, you have to travel for 10 hours.

Recently, the number of hotels and lodges has increased. The face of Mustang is changing due to the competition that local levels develop in their respective municipalities.

“Mustang Muktinath Temple has become a common destination for those who believe in both Hindu and Buddhist religions.” Said Yogesh Sherchan, owner of Hotel Mustang Taj in Jomsom.

“The face of Mustang is getting brighter after the construction of physical infrastructure in Mustang, which is full of natural beauty. It has become easier for internal and external tourists to reach Mustang after the blackening of the road in Mustang, which is located in the foothills of mountains like Dhawalagiri and Nilgiri. The paved road has not only improved the beauty of the Mustang but also the convenience of the passengers.” Said Vijay Hirachan, the owner of Hotel Mustang Monalisa.

“There is an increase in the construction of houses with new designs, while bridges are being built over rivers and streams. Tourists come to Mustang to see Yak Gumba, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and other mountains, lakes, Kagbeni, Muktinath Temple, monasteries, Dhule Pahad in Upper Mustang, the border between Nepal and China, Syabari, etc.” said Local Chhepten Gurung, who is running a hotel in Kagbeni._Rss
