On the 3rd of April, the Kathmandu-based Sherpa Hospitality group, a subsidiary of Yeti World and owners of the Moksha Mustang Resort have officially announced the signing of an MoU with Bangkok Based HMDAsia to redevelop Moksha Mustang as the first internationally flagged Shinta Mani Hotel, in a closed event in Dwarika’s Hotel, Kathmandu.
The Shinta Mani Mustang Resort will be managed by the Sherpa Hospitality Group and is projected to open in Q4, 2022. Architectural expert Bill Bensley also contributed to the resort by adding his creative touches to the property, prior to the opening as a “Shinta Mani”.
“Mustang, for me, is a mouthwatering cornucopia of totally unique Himalayan architecture layered upon a sparsely populated mountainscape. While knowing Mustang for years, I have only been blessed to visit my new nirvana once recently”, said Bill Bensley, while sharing a few words on the newly formed partnership.
In a conversation with reporters, Bill Bensley shared, “My first time in Nepal was in the 80’s but I only recently visited Mustang recently upon which I was left kicking myself in the head wondering why I hadn’t discovered this place sooner. Nepal after its natural disasters and political unrest is finally in a period of stability, it is now ripe for tourists to boom. Through the luxurious hotels of Shinta Mani we look to provide the exclusivity, solace and stunning nature to the luxury tourists. We look for quality over sheer quantity. However Shinta Mani isn’t a Hotel made for the richest of the rich of this world, that is not its sole purpose. Shinta Mani is to uplift the community around these remote places by providing them with training, jobs, assistance bringing the community along with the nation's tourism up as a whole.”
Activities at the resort will include trekking, horse riding, rock climbing, cycling, archery, hiking, helicopter tours and wellness. Moreover, personalised guest programs will be tailored according to the traditions of Sherpa hospitality. A charitable foundation is also to be created to keep up with Shinta Mani’s philosophy of giving back to the communities that they are located in.
The resort will be developed as an all-inclusive experience, with the guests’ experiences curated to provide the most remarkable 360 degree, luxury experience in the Himalayas. Room, air-transfers, activities, spa, food and beverage are all included in the package - the only thing guests will pay extra for are the helicopter tours. Guests will fly to the location from Pokhara or take the Kathmandu to Jomsom air-route which stands at an altitude of 2,700 metres, from which it is a short drive to the resort. Rates at the Shinta Mani Mustang Resort for the all-inclusive program will start from USD $1,500 per night.
The owner of Sherpa Hospitality Group, Namgyal Sherpa, mentioned after his recent visit with Bill Bensley, “Our group has been promoting experiential travel in remote areas of Nepal for many years now. It has been our dream to create world-class, luxury hotel experiences in the Himalayas and we couldn’t find a better partner than the Shinta Mani brand to collaborate with on this vision as we share similar values. We are very excited to be pushing the boundaries and creating a new and exciting project that will help reposition Nepal as a luxury adventure destination”.
