India's financial capital Mumbai will have all its beaches in the city shut till April 30 as COVID-19 cases rise.

India's financial capital Mumbai will have all its beaches in the city shut till April 30 as part of additional restrictions levied by the city's civic authority on Tuesday to control the rising COVID-19 cases.

All beaches, gardens, public grounds will remain closed from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and from 8:00 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday, said the circular by BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

BMC has also said that every housing community having more than five cases will be declared a micro containment zone, and police personnel will be deployed outside the gate of that community.

On Tuesday, the city reported 10,030 fresh cases with 31 deaths, taking the total active cases in Mumbai to 77,495 and the total deaths to 11,828.
