Five hundred people became monks in Lumbini in one day. Five hundred people were ordained as short-term monks in a religious program organized by the All Nepal Monks Federation, Thai Monks Federation and jointly organized by the Lumbini Development Fund.
Mahasthavir Dhamma Sobhan of All Nepal Bhikshu Mahasangha and Fara Pavhana, deputy head of Dhammakaya Foundation, presented chivars for short-term monks. A short-term monk must wear a yellow turban and follow one hundred precepts of Buddhism.
Ordinary followers follow Panchasila and Ashtasila, but short-term monks have to completely convert themselves to Buddhist rules for 20 days. The time of the short-term monk will end on Chaitra 17. Five hundred monks were shaved on Falgun 27th in Kathmandu and Falgun 28th in Lumbini.
In the program, Mahasthavir Sobhan of All Nepal Bhikshu Sangh asked to put Buddhist teachings into practice. Due to the corona epidemic, the Pravrajya program was suspended for three years. 1000 in 2011, 10,112 in 2015 and 10,119 in 2019 were released.
“Although their heads were shaved, they were ordained only on Thursday and were given yellow robes as short-term monks,” said Sanuraja Shakya, Member Secretary of Lumbini Development Fund._Rss
