Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said that the government was working to safeguard citizens from the coronavirus infection as well as to revive the economy hit from coronavirus.
Saying that the government was continuously working to keep the country safe from the impact of coronavirus, he said that the government has taken seriously the need to recover the economy. In his online address to the ninth annual general assembly of Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA), National Coordination Committee of the United States of America today, the Foreign Affairs Minister, however, said that government’s lone efforts were not sufficient to revive the COVID-19 hit economy and called for cooperation from all Nepalis at home and abroad.
Nepali Congress leaders Dr Shekhar Koirala and Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat also addressed the AGM virtually and opined that all should focus their attention to ensure jobs to return Nepali migrant workers at home adding that the pandemic has severely affected the country’s economic and social aspects as well.
On the occasion, Nepal’s Ambassador to the USA Dr Arjun Kumar Karki, President of NRNA International Coordination Council Kumar Panta, Chairman of NRNA USA Sunil Sah, General Secretary Pashupati Pandey and others expressed their opinions on different impacts of the pandemic on Nepal’s socio-economy, job market and other issues.
