11 July, 2026: flydubai, the Dubai-based low-cost carrier, has officially started daily operations to Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok, marking its second destination in Thailand after Krabi. The inaugural flight departed from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) on 1 July 2026, giving passengers a new way to connect to one of Southeast Asia's most visited cities.
Upon arrival, the first flight was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute and welcomed by local officials representing the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Don Mueang International Airport, and other stakeholders. Because of its proximity to downtown Bangkok, Don Mueang offers travellers flying in from Dubai relatively convenient access to the city's main attractions.

According to flydubai, the new Bangkok route complements its existing service to Krabi and represents another step in the airline's ongoing network expansion, driven by strong demand for travel between the UAE and Thailand.
flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said the airline was pleased to mark the start of daily flights to Bangkok as part of its broader expansion in Thailand. He noted that Thailand continues to be an important destination for both leisure and business travellers, and that the new direct service to Don Mueang International Airport — with its convenient access to central Bangkok — opens up a new gateway to the Thai capital for flydubai customers. He added that the route is expected to support growing trade and tourism flows between the two countries while reinforcing Dubai's status as a major global aviation hub.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), described the Middle East, and the UAE in particular, as one of Thailand's most valuable long-haul markets, citing high-quality, high-spending travellers. She noted that 188,447 visitors arrived in Thailand from the Middle East between 1 January and 21 June 2026 alone. She called the timing of the new flydubai flight especially favourable, saying it would strengthen air connectivity between the two countries. Starting with one daily flight operated on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, she said the route would add much-needed capacity heading into the summer season and help build momentum toward Thailand's year-end peak season, reinforcing the country's appeal to Middle Eastern travellers.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, said the airline is continually looking to diversify its network and expand travel choices for customers. He said the launch of Bangkok flights gives passengers from the UAE, the GCC, and beyond convenient options just ahead of the busy summer travel season. He added that flydubai expects the route to develop further in the coming years as demand grows, with travellers able to enjoy lie-flat Business Class seating and enhanced Economy Class comfort on board.

Bangkok is the latest addition to flydubai's expanding route map, following the recent launch of flights to Benghazi, Libya, and ahead of planned flights to Pokhara, Nepal, set to begin in September 2026. flydubai has described these additions as part of its broader commitment to opening up underserved markets.
The airline has also picked up several recent industry honours, including the "Airline with the Best Connectivity in the Middle East" award at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2026 — its third time winning the category — along with the "Airline of the Year" and "Trailblazer Award for Outstanding New Service Launch" at the Aviation Achievement Awards 2026, as well as recognition in Fast Company Middle East's Brands That Matter 2026 list.
The Bangkok route operates under flydubai's codeshare partnership with Emirates, which allows passengers to book a single ticket and benefit from seamless connections through Dubai, with through-checked baggage and access to the two airlines' combined network.

The airline says it has opened more than 100 new routes to markets that previously lacked direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE national carrier from Dubai.
