Amidst the pandemic’s effect on tourism, Chitwan National Park saw a high number of visitors this past year. The national park authorities recorded a total of 190,458 national and international visitors.
Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the park's information officer and assistant conservation officer, shared that 155,671 Indian citizens, 19,989 visitors from SAARC nations, and 14,808 overseas tourists visited the park in the last fiscal year, most of which was in March.
Even though the park is located within the Nawalpur, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Makwanpur, and Parsa districts, only Chitwan and Nawalpur have been granted authorisation for jeep safaris.
According to Tiwari, the park has received the most revenue from tourism—Rs 10 crore 23 lakh 98 thousand.
In addition, the park also made money through the sale of non-timber forest products (such as stones, gravel, and sand) for Rs 69 lakh 49 thousand, fines worth Rs 32 lakh 11 thousand, sales of wood and firewood worth Rs 7 lakh 17 thousand, and other revenue of Rs 17 lakh 20 thousand. _Rss
