China, with its ambitious tourism plans in its 14th Year Plan, has started to roll out technologies in its airports to make airports and the customer experience in the airport more convenient and easier for them. With China air infrastructure getting more and more traffic with its ballooning population and its ever-increasing tourism loads, have rolled out 'smart technologies' in the Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA).
The technologies that are being integrated into the aviation hub in the Chinese Capital will focus on pandemic control and prevention, passenger service enhancement to operational efficiency improvement. The Airport will incorporate facial and speech recognition technologies as well as positioning and navigation tech in their airport.
To control the pandemic, the airport is rolling out smart inquiry equipment which users can use to get their airport flight data, registration data without 'contact' with other members. Moreover, contact-free temperature checks, infrared elevator buttons, intelligent sanitary ware are being kept to relieve travel anxiety among passengers.
Facial recognition has also caused security checking to be much easier with people's identities and personal information being confirmed and verified much quicker. Passengers using the new system will be able to board the planes by just scanning their faces and not needing to present hardcopies and boarding tickets or ID cards.
The Chinese have a roadmap whereby in 2025, the efficiency of security checks in the airports should rise by 30 per cent from 2020 without any compromise on the quality of checks. By 2030, they have projected that key breakthroughs will be made in the intelligent design of security systems to provide a convenient, efficient, safe and joyful travel experience.
