the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have advised all the European countries to lift all travel restrictions for fully vaccinated people and recovered patients who have a valid Covid certificate

With the aviation, tourism and travel industry trying to get back on its feet in 2022 after two years of hardship, Airports Council International and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have advised all the European countries to lift all travel restrictions for fully vaccinated people and recovered patients who have a valid Covid certificate.

This decision has been advised by the new system that the EU has kept. The recommendation that the new system has kept has now come into effect. Independent research from Finland and Italy has provided evidence for the claims of IATA to remove travel restrictions.

The research that has been made public has shown that the traveller-centric approach is a more legitimate and effective way of countering the pandemic. It has also shown ineptitude and the inefficiency of the recent travel restrictions set by European countries.

Additional analysis of pandemic data has shown that pre-departure testing requirements are also ineffective in curbing, let alone stopping the spread of the Omicron variant. The restrictions in Finland and Italy have shown that broad travel restrictions to everyone have not affected the spread of the Omicron variant.

Meanwhile, the impact of these restrictions especially the restriction of free movement has been shown to significantly cause unnecessary economic hardship - not just for travel and the tourism sector but for the European economy as a whole.

Now the new system in the EU has focused on taking a 'person-based approach' and suggested that any person that is both vaccinated and recovered should not be forced to have any restrictions. But since the EU is merely a suggestive body and holds no enforcing authority on the nation-states of Europe, it is yet to be seen whether nations will take this recommendation seriously and come together to form a united EU Covid policy.
