With the pandemic and its effects waning and countries opening up and restrictions being relaxed, Airbus sees a boom in the plane demand in the Asia-Pacific in the course of the next two decades. It has been predicted that over 17,600 new planes will be needed in the next two decades.
Airbus has also projected that most of the demand - three-quarters of it- will be for smaller jets equivalent to Airbus A220s and 320s. The manufacturer thinks that once China drops its
'zero-COVID' strategy will be the main growth driver in the sector, along with India and emerging economies like Vietnam.
Airbus predicts that regional travel in this region will reach pre-pandemic levels between 2023 and 2025 and that this region will represent more than 40% of all demand for Airbus planes. With a resurgence in travel and high demand for planes, Airbus has set its target of making 65 Airbus A320s a month by mid-2023 and 75 a month by 2025 to meet the demand.
