Vatsaleshwari is worshiped as the sister of Naxal Bhagwati. Based on the legend that Vatsaleshwari, who is worshiped as the wife of Lord Shiva, was taken out of Pashupati, today Naxal Bhagwati's Jatra is also taken to Pashupati region. It has been a tradition for Naxal Bhagwati to knock on the chariot three times on the main door of Pashupati to attract Lord Shiva's attention.
