Baraha Kshetra Municipality in Chatradham Sunsari is set to host the month-long 'Pindeshwar Purna Mahakumbh' fair from April 9 to May 10. This announcement came during a press conference held at the Prime Minister's Office, where Jagatguru Balasanta Mohansharan Devacharya shared the details. The aim of this twelve-yearly Mahakumbha Mela is to promote the region as a religious, cultural, and tourist destination.
Guru Devacharya mentioned that they anticipate over one crore devotees from 10 countries, including Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, to participate in the Mahakumbha Mela. This event has historical significance, as it has been organized in Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh), Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), Nashik (Maharashtra), and Haridwar (Uttarakhand) in India. In Barah chetra, the Mahakumbha has been organized since 2059 B.S. on the initiative of Jagatguru Devacharya. An Ardha Kumbha fair is held here every six years, while a Purna Maha Kumbh fair takes place every 12 years. Barahkshetra, situated on the banks of the Saptakoshi River, is closely associated with Pindeshwar Dham of Dharan, and Kumbha Mela is a significant event in this area.
To ensure the success of the Maha Kumbha Mela, a Preparation Committee was formed under the coordination of Prime Minister's Office Secretary Arjun Pokharel. Secretary Pokharel assured that all necessary arrangements, including security and transportation, have been made for the devotees attending the fair. He further stated that all preparations for this grand event have been completed.
