But International tourist travel is still 72 per below pre-pandemic levels

Finally some news on the travel and tourism front, with the United Nations World Trade Organization (UNWTO)  has reported a four per cent increases in 2021 when compared to 2020, with 415 million international trips made in 2021.

Still the statistics show that the international tourist travel is still 72 per below pre-pandemic levels with much of the sector yet to recover.

Rising rates of vaccination and easings of travel restrictions and increased border cooridination and protocols, have all been touted as the reasons for the increase.

According to the data, while there is recovery, it has been slow and uneven across the world. The data shows that Europe and Americans recorded the strongest recovery rates with tourism going back up up 19 per cent and 17 per cent respectively. But these regions are still 63% below pre-pandemic levels of that region.
