With Tunisia being in the top 10 of the most visited tourist destinations for Russians, its tourism industry has been hit hard by the closing of airspace for Russian aircraft by European countries and the ongoing Russian-Ukraine crisis in general. With several flights from Russia being cancelled, the ongoing conflict casts doubt on the speed of the recovery of tourism in Tunisia.

The Tunisia Tourism Ministry has said that they have mobilized a crisis unit whose main mission is to monitor the conflict and its effects.  630,000 Russian tourists visited Tunisia in 2019 which plunged to just 90,000 in 2020-21. With 2022 being the resurgence of global tourism, the ministry has elucidated the importance of the Russian market for the North African country.

The tourism ministry has reported that the crisis unit that was set up in response to the sudden conflict has been in contact with tourists operators in both Russia and Ukraine as well in eastern and central Europe to monitor the conflict.
