The government has stated that passport holders of Pakistan, Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Myanmar, Nepal and North Korea will not have this facility available to them

Now, after the unveiling of the Visit Sri Lanka 2022 tourism campaign and the country's tourism authority branding the island nation as a 'safe destination country', Sri Lanka has taken a normal step towards normalcy by accepting visas on arrival for international countries, excluding 10 countries.

The old visa facility for foreign tourists pre-pandemic was put on hold after the pandemic broke out in 2020. Now the return of the visa arrivals is expected to give the country's tourism and travel sector much needed boost. With a significant part of Sri Lanka's economic activity deriving from tourism and travel and the recent boom of tourists in 2022 shows that revival of tourism has been an imperative goal for the country.

Therefore, they have resumed issuing on arrival electronic travel authorization (ETA) from 8th Feb to anyone who had time restraints and difficulties in filling the ETA forms before travelling to Sri Lanka. But 10 countries have been exempt from this return to normalcy. The government has stated that passport holders of Pakistan, Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Myanmar, Nepal and North Korea will not have this facility available to them.
