The rail service operation along the Janakpur - Jayanagar route gains momentum after being granted parliamentary endorsement.

The Janakpur-Jayanagar rail service has now been opened for operation, with an additional reintroduction of ordinance.

Initially introduced as per the Article 114 (1) of the Nepal Constitution, the ordinance on railway services had been nullified after being denied parliamentary endorsement. According to the General Manager of the Nepal Railway Company, Niranjan Jha, the avenue for railway service operation had gained approval following the end of the parliament session on Tuesday and the date of inauguration would be finalised within a couple of days following the issuance of railway ordinance.

Jha also further hinted that the inauguration ceremony would partake in a way that ensured the joint participation of Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and Narendra Modi.

As of now, the price for railway travel along the Janakpur- Jayanagar route has been marked at Rs. 70 for a normal seat and Rs. 300 for an air-conditioned seat.
