As an attempt to promote tourism and conserve the lakes, the Malika Rural Municipality-7 in Myagdi, has been developing the infrastructure around the Baraha Lake.

The Chairman of the Malika Rural Municipality-7, Resham Jugjali,has stated that a fence, path and public washrooms have been constructed around the perimeter of the lake. 

 

“We are working to make this lake a religious and tourist destination”, mentioned the ward chair. He also shared that the lake is now a major priority in the eyes of the government. 

 

The road around the lake was constructed with NRs. 1 million that was received in the form of financial assistance from the local government, while NRs. 300,000 was received for the construction of public washrooms. 

 

“The lake remained in the shadow for a lack of publicity, now there is an increase in activities recently”, said Dek Prasad Phagami, the Chairperson of Users Committee.

 

The Baraha Lake is situated at an altitude of 2,200metres from sea level, with the peaks of Dhaulagiri and Gurja in its background.
