Operations for paragliding in the Kushadevi region of the Panauti municipality have been authorised by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation. On Friday, the local Phulchoki Adventure Pvt Ltd received permission to operate paragliding commercially. The Civil Aviation Authority is reportedly working on the technical aspects of paragliding operations there.
Chabilal Humagain, Chairman of the Phulchoki Adventure, said that preparations would be made for commercial flights after the release of operational instructions from the authority.
Three years ago, during the Vihawar area tourism festival, a paragliding test flight was held from Gudum hill in the Kushadevi area. Fifteen paragliders carried out a three-day test flight at that time. There were two further testing sessions.
It is claimed that authorisation has been granted due to favourable circumstances for take-off, landing, and air pressure.
According to Humagain, commercial flights might start from Asoj since it will take two months to finish all the paragliding operations. He claims that ten paragliders have been permitted to fly every day from 10 am to 4 pm. It is stated that at the indicated time, visibility will be up to 6,500 feet.
Purushottam Adhikari, the Ward President of the Panauti municipality, stated that paragliding would contribute to local employment, tourism promotion, and economic growth. _Rss
