With the restrictions and the tourism and travel sector in Nepal finally up to speed, many tourism hotspots and destinations are picking up tourist traffic since the pandemic. In line with this, Mustang has reported an increase in the flow of domestic and external tourists have increased in the hotspot recently.
About 3,000 tourists are entering the destination daily through surface and air routes. After the air service from Pokhara to Mustang was resumed, there have been 15 daily to and from the destinations bringing about 250 passengers from the air. Also long lines have been seen through the surface routes with about 2,000 daily passengers coming to Mustang through bus, jeep and motorbike.
Many hotel entrepreneurs have been surprised with the sudden increase in the numbers after two years of almost zero tourist traffic in the COVID-19 pandemic. They hope to take advantage and utilize the opportunity before them to revitalize their business and the sector in the region.
