Singapore recorded significantly low international arrivals in 2021. Standing at 330,000 international arrivals, last year has been determined as the lowest since the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) started tracking in the 1970’s. Data shows that the number was 2 percent lower than pre-pandemic times.
Naturally, revenue was also estimated at 1.41 billion in 2021, lowest as of yet. For the most part in 2020 and last year, Singapore took strict measures to control arrivals to the city; upto 2 weeks of quarantine.
Since September of last year, vaccinated visitors from certain countries benefitted from certain waivers. China was the top source of visitors, accounting for 88,000 arrivals between January and December, 2021. However, these numbers are scaled down in comparison to the 3.6 million in 2019, STB said.
