China announces a 5-year roadmap for tourism

By 2025, China aims to have a stronger modern system for the tourism sector by integrating cultural development and making an improved barrier-free environment and services

The State Council of China has reported that it has made a development plan for tourism in its 14th Five-Year Plan which will be implemented from 2021 to 2025. The plans hopes to make China a world-class destination for visitors and travelers of tomorrow.

By 2025, China aims to have a stronger modern system for the tourism sector by integrating cultural development and making an improved barrier-free environment and services. By 2035, the country wants to be a world tourist powerhouse with plans for a variety of tourist hot spots, cultural parks, world-class tourist attractions and resorts with state-level sites serving tourism and leisure. 

This plan involves promoting smart tourism with digital, networked and intelligent solutions with the application of new tourism technologies in the sector. The plan hopes to advance mass tourism and consumption, preferential policies, services and public infrastructure that can keep up with the number of tourists and emerging trends in tourism like contactless tourism and consumption.
