Blood donation programme held

A blood donation programme was held on Saturday amidst the lockdown in order to ensure that there is no scarcity of blood for the needy. A total of 120 unit of blood was collected in the programme organized by Garden Club Pokhara-11.

There is the need for 70 units of blood every day in Pokhara, the capital of Gandaki State and efforts like this help to meet the need, said ward chairperson Mohan Prasad Bastola. The ward office had provided coordination support to the noble initiative.

The first week of the lockdown imposed to stem the spread of Corona Virus had seen some scarcity of blood but since then it has been normal, said chief of the Pokhara Blood Transfusion Centre Arjun Gyawali. Blood donation programmes have now been scheduled for until end of May.

Pokhara has also been supplying blood to locations where there is scarcity of it. Last week, 130 units of blood were sent to Kathmandu.
